SHOPIAN: JUN,09,2021: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan today visited Hilly District Shopian and chaired a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Shopian and interacted with various deputations in order to discuss the measures and means for breaking the chain of Covid-19 pandemic.
DDC Chairperson, Bilqees Jan, Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritpal, DDC Vice Chairman, Irfan Manhas, DDC and BDC members, Traders Federation, Fruit Growers Association, Transporters, Stakeholders and other officers were present on the occasion.
On the occasion a comprehensive and threadbare discussion was held in which the stakeholders comprising Fruit Growers Association, transporters, traders projected their demands and suggestions with regard to the issue for early settlement.
Advisor stated that to get rid up the virus, the need of the hour is that people should well cooperate in breaking the chain of covid pandemic at this critical juncture. He said that DDCs, BDCs, Sarpanchs and Panchs have to play a vital role by motivating the people to come forward and getting themselves vaccinated for averting major exigencies and it is possible only by following the SOPs and other guidelines issued by the government in letter and spirit.
Advisor called for strict measures for curbing this infection entirely and exhorted upon the traders, transporters, fruit growers and others present on the occasion to follow the requisite advisories saying that the situation can go out of control if the issue is not taken seriously.
Advisor appreciated the district administration for achieving 100% coverage of vaccination of above 45 years of age group in the district and expressed his gratitude that the people of Shopian have well cooperated the district administration off and on in this behalf.
Baseer Khan stated that the district Administration has procured sufficient stock of oxygen supply and other essential drugs and said that the people need not to pay any heed to the rumours that there is deficiency of any kind of oxygen or drugs. He said that in this regard the administration has purchased 09 more oxygen plants from Germany to facilitate the covid related patients. He impressed upon the officers and other stakeholders to educate the people about the ongoing covid-19 vaccination campaign so that the people will take the Vaccine doses on time.
Advisor also emphasises to ensure that the economic activities relating to MGNREGA, Horticulture, Agriculture etc. goes on smoothly provided Covid appropriate behaviour is followed strictly.
While interacting with the DDCs, BDCs and other representatives, Advisor stressed upon them for playing a vital role in tackling the situation arise due to the covid-19 pandemic. He appealed them to step forward and aware the common masses about the importance of wearing mask and maintaining social distancing. He also appealed them to get their respective areas well sanitized and well fumigated.
Appreciating the role of District Administration, Advisor emphasized for scanning up such activities for overall well-being of the people.
Deputy Commissioner briefed about various initiatives that have been taken by the district administration to break the chain of Covid-19 pandemic.
DC informed that there are 98 panchayat halqas in the district Shopian and all are established with 05 bed capacity of Covid Care Centres (CCCs) and are equipped with all the healthcare facilities so that any one of these halqas having any kind of symptoms can get himself isolated and well treated there. He said that during the pandemic, the district has 11 deaths till date. He added that the low rate is the result of cooperating of the people of Shopian district who followed all the SOPs and other guidelines fully. DC assured the chair that the district administration is fully prepared and has also geared up health functionaries for achieving 100% target in vaccination of 18-44 age group as the vaccine will be available in the district.
Later, Advisor visited Covid Care Centre (CCC) Tukroo and took stock of the facilities put in place for the covid patients to be admitted after having any kind of symptoms.
